I would check the clearance between the impeller and the wear ring. Using a feeler guage check to see that there is no more than 0.44" clearance between the impeller and the wear ring. If there is no more than 0.44" and the impeller is not touching the wear ring you should be good to go.

Are you sure it's the wear ring. Looking into the pump, it should be easy to tell. It'll also make a nice grinding sound out of the water. I don't have any experience with the replaceable wear ring, but you made it 8 years on the stock ones. I'd give them another shot, or go with the fully stainless RIVA housings.

The seadoo manual I have suggests using seadoo lube on the impeller/wear ring to reduce the initial friction until the lapping is complete but I think some light oil or liquid dish soap would work as well.
