chloride content in iron ore fines

Production of a ferric chloride coagulant by leaching an iron ore

Iron ore tailing was used as a raw material for the production of ferric chloride. • Leaching studies were carried out with hydrochloric acid. • Best results were attained with a 10.8 mol L-1 of HCl, a temperature of 80°, and a leaching time of 120 min. • The procedures allowed 94% recovery of iron present in the iron ore tailing. •

The Mechanism of the Effect of Al2O3 Content on the Liquid …

As the Al2O3 content in iron ore fines increased, the liquidity index decreased continuously, while the fluidity and the consolidation strength of the sintered body were directly related to the content squared. The quality of the sinter is optimal when the Al2O3 content of the iron ore fines is about 2 wt % (the SiO2 content is 4 wt %).

Iron ore (fines)

Description. Iron Ore (fines) Iron ores are rocks and minerals from which metallic iron can be economically extracted. The ores are usually rich in iron oxides and vary in colour from dark grey, bright yellow, deep purple, to rusty red. The iron itself is usually found in the form of magnetite (Fe 3 O 4), hematite (Fe 2 O 3), goethite (FeO(OH)), limonite …

The presence of impurities lowers the percentage of iron in the ore. The quality of iron ore is evaluated based on the iron content. More specifically, the ores having iron content above 65% are regarded as high-grade; iron content in the range of 62–64% is medium (average) grade, and iron content below 58% is considered as low …

Iron Ore

The world's resources are dominated by low-grade ore, though current world production of iron ore is largely by supply from deposits of high-grade ore composed of either rocks of massive hematite or pisolitic goethite. World iron ore production in 2013 was 2.95 billion tonne, with the major producers being China, Australia, and Brazil.

Production of a ferric chloride coagulant by leaching an iron ore

This work aimed at producing a ferric chloride coagulant from an iron ore tailing. The investigated variables were temperature, hydrochloric acid concentration, and heating time. The results indicated increasing solubilization of iron as a function of HCl concentration and temperature. Leaching carried out with a 10.8 mol L -1 of HCl at a temperature of 80° for …
